A One-Day Course on Creating User-Friendly, Safe Environments for Children
Designing for children can be complex. Designs must not only fit children who may be at very different stages of development, but challenge their abilities to promote physical, cognitive and emotional growth. At the same time, the designs must be fun to encourage children to use them, even while ensuring their safety.
Meet, talk with, and hear the latest information about designing places, products and processes for children. Gain information on child development and health as they apply to the design of:
  • Products: toys & sports equipment
  • Places: museums & schools
  • Processes: learning & wayfinding

Using products that fit makes a person more comfortable, so they can learn and interact more easily with their environment!

Designing for Children requires knowledge of child development to include musculoskeletal, visual, hearing, perceptual–motor, cognitive, emotional and social development.

This information can assist:
- Architects
- Elementary School Teachers and Principles
- Ergonomists
- Interior Designers
- Occupational and Physical Therapists
- Physical Educators

During this one-day course, attendees will learn:

  • How visual and auditory development influence classroom design
  • The latest research on computer workstation design for children
  • How computer use and videogames may influence children's development
  • How playgrounds can build confidence, challenge growth, and promote safety
  • New information on 'hot topics' regarding children's safety
